Simply Them

July 15, 2017

It’s been a long time since I’ve sat down and actually blogged – like really blogged not just recapped the events of the weekend.  I’m savoring a moment given to me by my sister Theresa who offered to take the kids for the afternoon…so it’s really nice just to sit down and think write about my littles without them running all crazy around me.

I’ve missed writing.  I’ve missed remembering the little moments.  So here it goes!

Adelaide…our little Laidy is such a beauty these days, both inside and out. Steve and I are amazed at her and sometimes look at each other and are like “how did we get a girl SO beautiful!?”  Last night I had to work super late (I’m a part-time youth minister and work weird hours) and he called me just to say how much he LOVES having a baby girl. I do too. She surprises us everyday, her vocabulary is crazy good (probably from imitating big brother) and she always makes us laugh.

Yesterday she put her hands on his face, looked him in the eyes, and said “Dada I looove you!” Oh my goodness my heart was so full.

She spins and dances every moment she gets and eats up the attention, she bolts out singing Moana or the Little Mermaid as loud as she can at the most random places, she loves playing with her baby dolls, she loves the ocean, swimming, and all things beach.  She ALWAYS tells me she’s a mermaid!

She’s very two although the tantrums have been few and far between.  But she is still an absolute maniac in Church. Like I wonder if Church even counts most days, because I’m definitely hearing nothing from the back lol!

She is her own girl in every way – and is WAY different than Frankie when he was her age! When he was two it was all about two things: basketball and fishing.  Not much has changed, although now fishing has taken a strong lead.

Frankie is obsessed with loves fishing. I crossed out obsessed because with him I see it being a true passion, even as a six year old. Everything in his day revolves around what fish he may potentially catch, what the fisherman are catching not only here on the Jersey shore but in Florida, Alaska, Hawaii, North Carolina…all the places he sees on his fishing shows.

We go offshore fishing at our local beaches but sadly haven’t got a bite yet.  But offshore fishing is super hard…so they say lol.

Steve took him out on a party boat that goes out 20 minutes from our home. He caught a few fluke, none big enough to keep, and a sea robin. Although Frankie left a little disappointed that there was nothing to bring home for mamma to cook, he had so much fun.  He came home telling me that he wanted his first job to be working as a deckhand.  I seriously think he’ll do it.

Frankie’s hero is a champion fisherman named Peter Miller, a guy who hosts a show called Bass 2 Billfish. Every morning Frankie runs to the couch and watched his show before swim school. Frankie wants to fish with this guy so badly, so I think we’re going to make a video to try and get him on the show!

Anyway…Frankie has found a true passion and I love that it’s one that keeps him in touch with nature, the ocean, and keeps him learning while outside.

He’s been keeping a nature journal for the last year. I read about them on a homeschooling blog and it has been SO much fun to do!!  We’re actually seriously considering homeschooling him…

So grateful for every day with these amazing little people. I love them so.  Thanks for reading friends.
