My heart was in a sad and new place the day before Frankie left me for Kindergarten. We didn’t do anything particularly out of the ordinary, actually it was a really normal night and I think that’s why it was so special to my mamma heart.
We went to our beach, watched the huge waves sent in by hurricane Hermine, dug for sand crabs, hunted for sea shells and simply were. Adelaide followed her big brother around and Frankie made sure to look behind every exposed jetty for a creature or treasure.
I felt sad leaving the beach that day, knowing my days of unscheduled, free wandering with Frankie boy were over. Although I knew (and know) that the Catholic school we’re sending him to is awesome, and he really is ready to be a schoolboy.
Although homeschooling is always an option I can keep open, right? 😉
