Linking up with the lovely Hallie from Moxie Wife for this week’s Five Favorites!
This week I’m loving…
1. Cheaper by the Dozen (the book)
My sister-in-law lent me this one. Forget the Steve Martin movie version in all it’s cheesiness – that movie doesn’t even begin to capture the awesomeness of the book! It’s SO hilarious that I’m actually laughing out loud.
If you don’t have a big family you’ll want one after this read. It’s based on a true story that took place near my old stomping grounds in New Jersey…so cool. AND it’s written by a guy named Frank! (score 2)
So skip the movie and get a copy of this book.
2. Davion Navar Henry
This story is beautiful.
This 15 year old boy was born in a prison, grew up in the foster system, and now lives in a group home with 12 other boys.
Despite his age, he took an incredibly courageous step and took to the pulpit at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church to ask the congregation to help him find his forever family.
“I know God hasn’t given up on me,” Davion boldly told the congregation. “So I’m not giving up either.”
More than 10,000 families have applied to adopt him. WOW! You can watch the clip on it here.
3. Ender’s Game
My husband and I had a much needed date night last weekend and really enjoyed this film. There are some very thought provoking dilemma’s on the morality of war vs. just war in this Sci-Fi flick. Many themes that definitely are applicable to today’s crazy war torn world.
Also, Andrew Ender is a fantastic character…
The author of the novel also has a very interesting biography…looking forward to reading the triology!
4. This Etsy Shop: BuckleJames on Etsy.
Perhaps if you need a cool Christmas gift for your kiddos?
5. Homemade Birthday Cards from Husbands/Toddlers
Perfect card to wake up to on my birthday? I think so.
