What an AWESOME surprise! Coming home from work not only was my sister Theresa waiting in the driveway, but my Uncle John was sitting in the back of her car! Steve and I (and especially Frankie – who perfected saying his name) were so excited to have him stay for the weekend.
We explored some of the best spots in Southwest Florida, from downtown Naples, to the pier, the Everglades, Everglades city, Ave Maria, and hiked the jungle of our backyard which is Barefoot Beach Preserve.
Welcome Uncle John!!
This is one of the Cardinals we see in our jungle each morning. Isn’t she a beauty!?
He definitely isn’t allowed to climb on the table…but…
it was too cute that I had to take his photo first…

The pineapples are finally growing
This was Uncle John’s first steps in the Gulf of Mexico. (I LOVE this picture!)
It was a beautiful day, and the waves were unusually big for Naples – 3-4 feet with an offshore breeze. Good enough to at least longboard:

We happened to randomly run into Theresa and Andrea!
I saw the movie “The Big Year” and ever since I can’t stop birding. (don’t judge.)
Frankie post-nap.
Gator sightings in the heart of the Florida Everglades!! We probably saw a total of 16…
somehow i kept hearing the jaws theme song repeating in my head.
This is the smallest post office in the United States!
Thanks for a great time Uncle John – we love and miss you.
Come back again next year!!!
Thanks Char! It was so much fun planning the surprise with Theresa, and then spending the long weekend with all you Florida Gulf Coast residents!
